Find peace and renewal in Colorado's tranquil wilderness

Welcome to Redtail Retreat & Ranch Colorado — a modern-rustic mountain studio designed for rest, adventure, and reconnection.
Perched above the valley near Idaho Springs and overlooking the breathtaking Continental Divide, our newly remodeled studio with loft offers the perfect blend of comfort, character, and wild Colorado beauty. Historic roots meet thoughtful modern updates, creating a space that feels both grounded and elevated.
Here, you can slow down… or gear up. Private trails, world-class mountain biking, hot springs, white water rafting, skiing, hiking, and historic gold-rush towns are all right outside your door.
This isn’t just a place to stay. It’s a basecamp for mountain living.

Not every day needs an agenda. Redtail is a place to slow down, breathe deeper, and spend real time with yourself and the natural world. Watch the light shift across the mountains, sip coffee in stillness, read, nap, wander outside without a plan, and let the quiet reset your pace.

Ride from alpine flow to rugged backcountry terrain just minutes from Redtail. The brand new Mighty Argo Cable Car is opening access to a growing network of world-destination mountain biking trails, making this one of Colorado’s most exciting emerging ride hubs.

Snowy hikes, sledding hills, and peaceful winter landscapes are right outside your door. When you’re ready for bigger terrain, Redtail is within easy reach of world-class ski and snowboard resorts including Winter Park Resort, Loveland Ski Area, Echo Mountain, Keystone Resort, Copper Mountain, and Breckenridge Ski Resort.

Step into Colorado’s gold rush past. Explore preserved mining sites like the Argo Mill and Tunnel, tour underground passages at the Phoenix Gold Mine, or visit local museums that share the stories of the prospectors and mountain towns that shaped this region. It’s a chance to experience the history that still lives in the landscape around you.

After a day in the mountains, sink into the historic mineral pools at Indian Hot Springs or explore additional public and private hot springs within driving distance — a timeless Colorado ritual of rest and recovery.

Take in sweeping high-country views along nearby scenic routes like Guanella Pass, the historic Mount Evans Scenic Byway (seasonal), and the dramatic canyon drive through Clear Creek Canyon along Highway 6. These winding mountain roads offer waterfalls, wildlife sightings, and unforgettable overlooks just a short drive from Redtail.

Summer brings the rush of white water rafting on Clear Creek, where snowmelt fuels lively rapids and stunning canyon scenery. Trips range from splashy beginner stretches to more technical sections for thrill-seekers, all set against granite canyon walls and pine-covered slopes. It’s one of the area’s classic warm-weather adventures.
Beyond hiking and biking, the mountains offer plenty of ways to play. Numerous climbing areas line Highway 6 and nearby canyons, with granite walls, sport routes, traditional climbs, and natural bouldering zones for a range of skill levels. You’ll also find guided ATV tours through rugged terrain, seasonal dog sledding experiences, and aerial ropes courses for a fun challenge. These activities add even more ways to explore the landscape from new perspectives.

Experience the vibrant heart of Idaho Springs, the original boomtown of Colorado’s gold rush and now a thriving community filled with personality, history, and local flavor. Wander historic downtown’s Victorian-era buildings and browse unique shops, galleries, and artisans reflecting the town’s rich heritage. Sip local craft beverages at favorites like Tommyknocker Brewery & Pub — a beloved Idaho Springs institution with seasonal beers and pub fare — or enjoy a refreshing flight and comfort eats at Clear Creek Cidery & Eatery, a community favorite for hard cider and Colorado comfort food. Live music, community festivals, and outdoor dining at places like YARDS TAPHOUSE give this town its lively, welcoming pulse. Idaho Springs sits at the crossroads of outdoor adventure and historic culture — with museums, mine tours, vibrant local events, and riverside strolls all part of its charm.
Just a short drive away you can also explore the scenic streets of Georgetown and ride the historic Georgetown Loop Railroad, or head to for unique entertainment, dining, events, and mountain-town nightlife.

Bring restoration into your stay with professional on-site massage, offered right here at Redtail. Whether you’re recovering from adventure or simply ready to unwind, bodywork can be part of your retreat experience. A sauna is also in the works, adding another layer of warmth and relaxation to mountain evenings.
